I'll start a thread on here folks to save you having to check over on Passionford (and saves people having to sign up to Pf).
After having to do a lot of welding when we built my Sierra Cosworth (B9KOS) back up i decided i wanted to build something a bit newer. First choice was obviously a Focus but with so many conversions already complete and a fair few on the go i decided it would be good to do something different. Mk6 Fiesta, Focus estate and even a Cougar were considered before i decided on a Ka D: D:
The project has three main components:
1. One Ford Ka shell
2. One Cosworth YB :o
3. Someone to do the fabrication work
The problem off getting a suitable base vehicle was solved when i contacted Adrenaline Ka about his ex-track Ka that he had started to break for spares to start a new project himself.
The plan is based on a completion date of July 2008 hopefully to allow it to 'debut' at either Ford Fair or National Day.
To start with we need to strip all the present running gear and remaining interior out and then transport the bare shell back to Adrenaline HQ after Christmas/New Year to let Danny do the required fab work to enable it to be rwd and YB powered
Spec
Engine: Standard YB with T34 0.63, L8 with coilpacks, Swedish style plenum and a set of 55lb Siemens injectors. Will be mounted on chassis brackets like the GrpN/A and WRC cars
Gearbox: T5 then hopefully a sequential Mullet rwd
Front Suspension: Adjustable TCAs, Compression struts etc
Rear Suspension: WRC cradle/lateral links set up to enable the rear track to be made to fit the 'Ford Racing' arches.
Brakes: Floor mounted pedal box, APs and vertical hydraulic handbrake.n
Firstly went round to friends last night to look at the suspension set up on his Westfield. Ideally i want to use as many off the shelf parts as possible for the bolt on part of the conversion. Looking at the prices the genuine Westfield stuff is very well priced :o :o
Rear hub set up
Rear wishbone inboard side

Spoke to Danny and the plan is to use the adjustable Ledas that came with the car if possible
Then today Trev and I removed the pony 1.3 Duratec. So if anybody needs a engine for their Ka/Fiesta give me a pm
With the engine out, we had a little tidy up then decided to fit the dummy YB in the engine bay to enable us to start working out where the engine will be positioned D:
Mmmm YB power
Just got to remove brake/fuel lines and the petrol yank and its ready to go back to Adrenaline
im shure its the name of the 'cosworth' engine. and correct me if im wrong any oun but its a pinto block with a cosworth head on it that makes it a YB engine
not hanging around with this project are you!
carnt wate to see the rear running gear set up, should be fun!

YB is the Cosworth engine code. 3 Doors and earlu Saffs were YBB for example, whilst the Escos was YBD.
im quite suprised, looks like there is a good amount of room infront of the engine there. Purlple zetec turbo. ----> http://tiny.cc/QDqH1 BIG THINGS GOING ON ON PAGE 4!
Will be following this one, as I love the idea. Also can't wait to see how well it handles as the mk6 fiesta cosworths are unreal to see on a track. Good luck and keep the photos posted.
Yeah will be interesting to watch , especially with that custom rear beam setup. Gets me thinking about doing my own RWD ZT conversion some time in the future (doubt ill have the dollar to thow at a YB!) 2.1 Zetec Turbo Ka in the making - T3, MO's, FR Arches, Coilovers.
